It only comes in the color white as synthetic fibers don't take dye very well.
I first added two layers of black merino wool to each side of my round resist. Then I pulled off some ingeo fiber and placed it on the black wool. This will be the outside of the bowl.
Because ingeo is synthetic, it has to be tacked down with a few fibers of merino wool. After wet felting it for a little while, the ingeo fiber mingles into the black wool..
Then I felted both sides with my new favorite tool, Heartfelt Silks palm washboard. This is fantastic for felting fast and not so much strain on my hands. It's made of wood but completely waterproof.
I know it's felted when I try to pull up some fibers with my fingers, the pinch test, and if the fibers stay in place, it's felted! form the bowl with a balloon and stretch the wool, making the fibers squiggle.
I let it dry overnight and the best part is popping the balloon to see what the inside looks like! I used sparkly fiberstar and angelina in layers, light on dark, and it came out lovely.
