I create felted bowls and vessels with vivid colors sometimes and make shells, and starfish out of felt in natural colors. This bowl has an ocean theme with layers created by using resists in between the wool layout, creating waves coming off the top of the bowl.
The bowl has nine resists
To create the waves, I layer wool over a piece of cheesecloth. The bowl itself will have three round resists and four irregular-shaped resists and two crescent-shaped resists. They will be placed in between layers of wool and when later removed create several layers. Cheesecloth is easy to incorporate because it has a loose weave, fibers felt into it quickly and it adds texture.
I stuffed pieces of bubble wrap into the gaps to create even more dimension.
A balloon was blown up inside the bowl and then left to dry.
It took two days to completely dry!
