Yes, that's a weird word to describe
a felting technique!
But it really does resemble
deeply cracked mud.
This bowl is made with a round resist inside and cut pieces of thick vinyl resist placed on three sides on the outside of the bowl. After the bowl is felted, the vinyl resists are cut out on the sides and the edges felted smooth.
Once the edges of the cutouts are smooth and
closed, the vinyl resists can be removed.
